Break-The-Rules Day & Penny Wars Winners


Merry Christmas Parents!

GIVING TREE & PENNY WARS: Thank you all for your participation in bettering our LLA Community! This service project, organized by our Student Service Council was so successful, and it is always heartwarming and overwhelming to see how supportive our LLA families are! Thank you again! OUR PENNY WARS WINNING CLUSTER IS Intermediate Cluster 2: Baker, Fonua & Ransom! Way to go! We were able to raise over $3500! 

BREAK-THE-RULES DAY: Tuesday, December 20th. (Money was due December 15th) Out LLA Student Service Council is sponsoring Break-the-Rules Day! There are 6 rules students can break ($1 for each rule or $5 for all 6).
1.      Wear hats
2.      Chew gum (not provided by the school)
3.      Flip Flops/Slippers
4.      Wear your PJ’s to school
5.      Lunch with teachers in the classroom
6.      Bring a stuffed animal

FOOD PANTRY: Remember that our food pantry is collecting food items all year to help our LLA community. Items can be brought to the office or your teachers.

LLA HOODIES - NEW PRICES: Hoodies are now available for $15. The carnival shirts and the spirit shirts from last year (red tie dye) are available for $6. While supplies last. Please send an email to PTO@llacharter.org to see if we have the sizes you prefer. Once sizes are confirmed, you may put payment into an envelope with your child's name, homeroom, and shirt size, and drop envelope into the PTO box in the office.

WINTER CLUBS: Registration will begin January 9th, and Clubs will begin the week of January 17th. Look for Science Club, Art Club, and other fun clubs!

JANUARY BIRTHDAY TABLE: Tuesday, January 10th. Come celebrate January birthdays by joining your student for lunch!

CAR POOL REMINDER: If you are picking up students in the carpool lane, have a paper with student names hanging in a front or side window. It is such a great thing to see our teachers out with the students after school to keep them safe. Let them know how appreciated they are!

CHRISTMAS BREAK: Our last day of school this month is tomorrow, December 20th. Have a fantastic Christmas and holiday season!

BOGO Dress Down Day & PENNY WARS

Just a reminder of some of the upcoming events for December!!  Don't forget!!



GIVING TREE: The Giving Tree is set up in the library. Select the gifts and have them delivered, unwrapped, to the office by December 15th. Our LLA Student Service Council sponsored Giving Tree is benefiting our very own LLA Community! 

PENNY WARS: Remember that our Penny Wars is also going on until December 15th. This is also benefiting our LLA Community. We have an amazing school! Thank you for all the participation!

December PTO & LLA Events

BIRTHDAY TABLE: Tomorrow, December 6th is Birthday Table. Come join your student to celebrate their special day during their lunch time! Students will get a fun birthday prize too!

Giving Tree & Black Friday

Upcoming Events::

PTO MEETING: November 17th at 7 pm in the library. (Black Friday shirts available this night also.)

LLA BLACK FRIDAY: November 18th is our LLA BLACK FRIDAY SALE! We will be in the library before and after school selling hoodies for $15, Carnival Shirts for $6, and last year's Spirit Shirts for $6. Available while supplies last. Cash and Check accepted.

LLA GIVING TREE: Our Student Service Council has a wonderful giving opportunity for us all. On November 18th, they will have their Giving Tree up in the school library. Come in and take a look at the needs/wants of some of the families in our LLA School Community! It is up and running this Friday just in case you'd like to hit the Black Friday shopping events. Also, look for a Break-the-Rules Day, and Penny Wars!

DOLLAR DRESS DOWN DAY: November 18th. Bring a dollar to your teacher and wear whatever you'd like that is still school appropriate.

THANKSGIVING BREAK: No school the week of November 21-25th. Happy Thanksgiving! 

VETERAN'S DAY BREAKFAST: Thank you all who supported this amazing event spearheaded by Molly Stark! To have so many Veterans and families was a wonderful sight. I echo Mrs. B. in that our entire student body is extremely respectful! Way to go Flyers!!!

FACEBOOK CONTEST: Thank you to all of you who supported our school in a fun Facebook contest offered by Tutor Doctor. Leadership Learning Academy won, and they will be supplying oodles of snacks for our faculty and staff! Yay!

Veteran's Day Breakfast LLA Black Friday

VETERAN'S DAY BREAKFAST: Friday, November 11th. Students will be able to invite a Veteran to eat breakfast with them from 8-8:30 in the gym. After breakfast, there will be a short school-wide assembly honoring our Veteran's and their selfless service. Please ask your student to invite a Veteran to breakfast on Friday!

BLACK FRIDAY: November 18th is our LLA BLACK FRIDAY SALE! We will be in the library before and after school selling hoodies for $15, Carnival Shirts for $6, and last year's Spirit Shirts for $6. Available while supplies last. Cash and Check accepted.

RECESS EQUIPMENT: Each cluster has received a bucket with new recess equipment from the PTO. Each bucket has supplies for recess, a ball pump, jumpropes, etc. We were also able to create an Indoor Recess bag which includes games and activities for kids during inclement weather. These funds came from Box Tops, Labels for Education, and other fundraisers! Thanks for your support in helping our kids and our school!

THANKSGIVING BREAK: No school the week of November 21-25th. Happy Thanksgiving! I know I will be EXTREMEMLY GRATEFUL if we get back and the construction is complete! (But really, I am grateful always to have a great school with great teachers, staff, students and parents!)

Birthday Table, Family Literacy Night, and Veteran's Day Breakfast

BIRTHDAY TABLE: November 8th is Birthday Table for November birthdays. Come join your student to celebrate their special day during their lunch time! Students will get a fun birthday prize too!

LLA FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT: Thursday November 3, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 at the LLA Field.
Please join the Leadership Learning Academy Literacy team as we read under the stars in a fun-filled Family Literacy Night! Bring a blanket, books, flashlights, and the whole family to Camp Read-a-Lot. You may bring dinner for your family to enjoy picnic style or purchase snacks available at the school.  At 6:00 p.m. you may set up camp on the field. In case of inclement weather, the gym will be used. Snacks will be available for purchase, or, by donating books, you will earn tickets to redeem for snacks! All proceeds will go towards filling our classroom libraries. We hope to see you there!

5K/CARNIVAL VOLUNTEER HOURS: If you volunteered for the 5K/Carnival, please check to see if your hours have been recorded. If they were missed, let us know and we will enter those hours for you.

CLASS CAPTAINS: We are working hard to get you connected with your Class Captains. If you have not heard from your Class Captain, please let us know. 

BOOK FAIR: A BIG" Thank You" to all who supported and helped volunteer for our book fair, which turned out to be quite successful! We have been able to put more books into our classrooms and library! Watch for our next Book Fair in February during the next PTC week!

Camp Read-a-Lot

Please join the LLA Literacy team as we read under the stars in a fun-filled Family Literacy Night this Thursday from 6-7pm! Book Fair & Halloween!!

BOOK FAIR: Our school book fair is being held this week in the library before and after school and during parent teacher conferences. Come and get some fun new books and help support our school. Remember that 55% of all purchases comes right back to the school for more books in classrooms and the library! Hope to see you there.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES: Have you been contacted by your teacher's class captains about a Halloween Party? We are really in need of volunteers for our students to be able to have Halloween Parties. You could be in the classroom for a few hours, plan games and activities, send in treats, snacks and prizes, make a fun playlist, etc. Remember that our school charter only allows three parties each year. Please contact your Class Captain to get involved. 

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: This year on Friday, October 28th, students are allowed to dress up as a character in a book. Please remember to bring the book with you that day! (No masks, no face paint, no fake blood, no weapons of any kind, and no scary costumes.) This is the day for costumes at school. There will be no school on October 31st or November 1st.

Box Tops, Book Fair, and October Reminders

Here are some reminders of upcoming events for the next few weeks:


FALL BREAK: Remember this week is a short week. No school on Thursday or Friday!

DOLLAR DRESS DOWN DAY: WEDNESDAY, October 19th. We run into Fall Break and Parent Teacher Conferences this month, so just note that our Dollar Dress Down Day falls in the middle of the week and in the middle of the month.

BOX TOPS COMPETITION: Due October 19th. This is the last few days to turn in box tops to earn a class party! (Box tops will be collected all year.)

BOOK FAIR: Our school book fair will be October 24-28 before and after school and during parent teacher conferences. Come and get some fun new books and help support our school. Remember that 55% of all purchases comes right back to the school for more books in classrooms and the library! Hope to see you there.

Ribbon Week Volunteers Needed

The PTO is getting ready for Ribbon Week and are in need of volunteers during the lunch time hours for this Wednesday or Thursday (Oct. 5 & 6). If you are interested, come sign into the office and Mr. Buckley will give direction on tracing hands on paper plates.   Thank you!!

Upcoming Activities/Dates for October 2016

5K/CARNIVAL: Thank you so much for your overwhelming support of our LLA 5K & Carnival! We really have an amazing LLA community with helping hands, generous donations, involved teachers, and frankly the most wonderful kids around! We have some speedy runners, and we have kids that sure know how to aim a pie at their teachers! If you have any fun pictures, feel free to share on our Facebook page! Check out the photo of Mr. Ransom and his face covered in pie! Also, our school food donations were beyond successful! Our entire student body has earned a doughnut party! Way to go!!!  

 FREE CLASSIC SKATE NIGHT: Tuesday, October 11th from 5-9 pm. Bring your skates and scooters and join us at the Layton Classic Fun Center. Admission is free, and kids may bring skates, blades and scooters. There will be rentals available, if needed, for a small fee. They are also offering a $3 dinner deal (nachos or pizza & drink OR hot dog, chips & drink.) 

 RIBBON WEEK: October 10-14th is our Ribbon Week. Our school halls will be decked with student pledges to be safe, safe, safe! Look for more info for a fun week: (Monday - Red Ribbon, Tuesday - Green Ribbon, Wednesday - White Ribbon, Thursday - Blue Ribbon.) Kids can wear fun clothes, participate in fun contests, and join us for our school skate night! More info to come!
